ANDORRA
The sixth smallest nation in Europe, Andorra is nestled between France and Spain in the Pyrenees. Charlemagne granted a charter to the people of the region for their allegiance in the fight against the Moors. The status was consolidated in 1278 when the Count of Foix and the Bishop of Urgell in Catalonia shared the principality’s sovereignty. As a result, to this day, the official language spoken in the country is Catalan. And Andorra’s sovereignty is shared today by the President of France and the Bishop of Urgell, making them co-princes. Its capital is Andorra la Vella.
