BELGIUM
Chocolate, beer, castles, and cathedrals, but not Belgian people. Either Vallons or Flemish.
The Northern part, a flatland crisscrossed by canals, is the famous Flanders of European history books. The Flemish played a tremendous role in developing commerce and industry in the continent, and wars were fought for the English wool used for manufacturing their famous tapestries. The famous cities of Antwerp (Anvers), Ghent (Gent), and Brugge (Bruges) were significant centers in the establishing of the guilds that were the basis for the modern industry started in the Medieval Times. One famous guild was of the brewers that produced 380 sorts of beers.
Brussels is the capital of both Belgium and the European Union, located in Vallonia, the French-speaking part of the country.
